Ok so over at AlchemicDream we’ve been noticing that you all have quite a few questions on Cross Classing within RFOnline. This should hopefully clear those up and if you have any more question on it please ask, and we will give you an answer on it as soon as possible, so without further ado:
What is Cross Classing?
Cross Classing is a way of changing your characters talents away from the original path that you may have taken. For example a Warrior could change his class into one of the second tier Ranger classes at level 30 rather than continuing his path down the warrior tree.
How could this benefit my character?
Crossing with another Class allows your character to then use all three tiers of another class type as well as your original classes. For example a Warrior could change into a Ranger at the level 30’s class change and will then be able to use all of the tier 2 skills for the Ranger and Warrior, then on class change at level 40 use all of the tier 3 skills for the Ranger and Warrior also.
Please note any extra skills gained will not be kept, if you re-define your character and go into another class tree.
What downfalls does doing this have?
Cross Classing causes your character to not gain their level 30 and 40 class specific skills and / or bonuses. Although this does not apply to the racial abilities. If a Warrior chose to go Summoner or Driver they
would gain the ability to Summon Animus, or Pilot an MAU.
Once you have cross classed you are forced at the 3rd class change to choose one of the 3rd tier classes for your third class for example:
A Warrior chooses to Ranger at level 30 they would then be forced to choose a 3rd tier ranger class at level 40, even though this would not allow any class specific skills to be available to them, apart from the Ranger tier 3 skills.
Synopsis:
Choosing a Class other than your starting class affords you more skills than you would naturally be available to get, at the cost of your tier 3 class only skills and bonuses. While this can be alluring it is best to be careful and think wisely about what classes you choose to mix together.
PT's and Their Max's:
A characters PT’s will remain as their base class and if they Cross Class part of which what they would have cross classed into.
Staying within your original class tree you will be able to max all of your PT's no matter of type, e.g. A Warrior that chooses a Warrior class for the first job change (who is then forced to choose another warrior class at 40) will be able to max both Melee and Range PT's.
What this means:
If a Warrior Cross Classed into a Ranger they could max out their Melee PT, Range PT and Force PT.
If a Ranger Cross Classed into a Warrior they could max out their Range PT, Melee PT and Force PT.
If a Spiritualist Cross Classed into a Warrior they could max out their Melee PT and Force PT but not their Range PT.
If a Specialist Cross Classed into a Warrior they could max out their Melee PT and Force PT but not their Range PT.
I’ve made a mistake can I go back?
Yes you can, but if you do you will not gain the class promotion once again, this is to prevent abuse.
This can be done at your race Hero, going to see this NPC allows you to “Re-define” your class; this costs Gold with the cost increasing each time it takes place. Originally costing 1000Gold pieces, it then adds a 0 each time.
Re-definition will not cause your character to be "gimped" in anyway after doing so, no matter what class you have re-defined from, it gives you a clean slate resetting your character to the original class you were.
1,000Gold – 1st Re-Definition
10,000Gold – 2nd Re-Definition
100,000Gold – 3rd Re-Definition
1,000,000Gold – 4th Re-Definition
10,000,000Gold – 5th Re-Definition
100,000,000Gold – 6th Re-Definition
It is then impossible to re-define after your 6th time as you cannot carry enough gold in your inventory to do so.
Questions and Answers:
Q: If I change to another class and unlock the tier 2 or 3 skills for that class and then change back to the original class I intended to go, will I keep the extra skills I gained?
A: No you will
not retain the extra skills you have gained unless you remain as the class you gain them from.
Q: Would you receive the lvl40 "items", like for example could you choose Isis if you went Warrior->Summoner->Grazier?
A: Yes they would gain Isis if they did this.
Q: What is the "max out their xyz PT" for pure Specialists? I have yet to find a site with the information on that.
A: A specialist aslong as it is
not cross classed will be able to get all of their PT's to GM/99 just like all other Pure Characters.
Pure Character: A Character that has not deviated from their original classes tree e.g. Spiritualist -> Summoner -> Grazier/Dark Priest
Q: Can I gain multiple bonuses for re-defining and choosing my classes again?
A: You will only gain one bonus for changing class at 30 and 40 (so you will keep the first but not gain a second bonus).
Q: If I re-define my character does it take me back one-stage or back to my original class?
A: Re-defining takes you back to your very original class, so if you first chose a warrior when you initially created your character it will be re-defined to a warrior.
Q: What are the maximum PT's for a
PURE class character?
A: A level 50 of any race or class that is pure can obtain the following:
Melee: GM/99
Range: GM/99
Launcher/Summon/Unit: GM/99 -
Where applicable
Force: GM/99
Shield: GM/99
Defense: GM/99
The following only apply if your a specialist:
Wpn/Shld: GM/99
Armor: GM/99
Ammo: GM/99
Q: If I cross class now when they add the 4th tier abilities will I be able to get them if im cross-classed?
A: Sadly no-one knows yet as they are not implemented into the game as of yet, ill keep you posted when I get more information on them.
Q: Does the choice you make at 30 force you to choose what you want to be at 40?
A: Yes after choosing your 2nd Class you are then forced for what you must choose between at your 3rd class change.
